Returning to myself

Psychotherapy

My own journey through individual psychotherapy has been one of the most meaningful and valuable investments I have ever made in my life.

For a long time, I searched for ways to "fix" myself, my relationships, and my life. I looked for clear answers and solutions to both the bigger and the smaller challenges I faced. Sometimes I found them. But more often, the answers revealed themselves only when I turned inward and connected more deeply with myself and my inner experience.

That is why I don't believe in quick fixes or universal answers. Instead, I believe that each person needs a space where they can gradually come to understand themselves more deeply, their relationships, and the ways they have learnt to relate to themselves, to others, and to the world.

How I work

In my work, I place great importance on the therapeutic relationship and on creating a sense of safety. I believe that meaningful change does not happen through pressure or by searching for quick fixes, but through a relationship in which greater understanding and trust can gradually develop.

Alongside conversation, an important part of the process is exploring emotions, bodily sensations, desires, inner conflicts, and patterns, that may not yet be fully conscious. A central part of my work is helping people reconnect with their bodies, as the body often speaks before we are able to put our experience into words. Over time, feelings, thoughts, bodily responses, and experiences that once felt disconnected or difficult to access can begin to come together.

Clear goals and intentions certainly have their place, but they may also evolve throughout the therapeutic process. Resistance, fear, and doubt are not obstacles to overcome, but valuable parts of the journey. Often, it is more important to allow them to exist, to get to know them with curiosity, and to include them in a deeper understanding of ourselves than to try to make them disappear as quickly as possible.

When appropriate, I also integrate elements of mindfulness, body awareness, visualisation, and parts work. Everything I bring into the process is always guided by the unique needs and pace of each person.

I can support you with

  • Navigating life's bigger and smaller changes and transitions that can shake your sense of self.
  • Feelings of shame, guilt, self-doubt, and a strong inner critic.
  • Developing greater self-compassion, gentleness, and kindness towards yourself.
  • Grief and loss, including the end of relationships, losing a job, or the death of a loved one or a beloved pet.
  • Relationship challenges, as well as feelings of anxiety, overwhelm, uncertainty, or emotional unrest.
  • The feeling that something is wrong with you or that you don't quite belong.
  • Building a greater sense of inner stability, self-trust, and emotional grounding.
  • Exploring identity, including gender, sexual orientation, neurodiversity, and whatever else feels important to you.
  • Exploring sexuality, pleasure, desire, intimacy, and your relationship with your body, along with the many experiences that can accompany them, such as shame, guilt, pain, numbness, uncertainty, or feeling that something is wrong with you.

When I may recommend a different or additional form of support

My work may not be the right fit for every situation. I believe that, in some circumstances, a more specialised form of psychotherapy or other professional support may be the most appropriate option.

I may recommend a different or additional form of support if you:

  • experience frequent or intense panic attacks, or have thoughts of suicide.
  • are experiencing psychosis, for example hearing voices or losing touch with everyday reality.
  • are currently experiencing physical or psychological abuse in a close relationship.
  • are primarily looking for specialist trauma therapy and support with the effects of trauma.
  • need treatment for an addiction, whether to substances, relationships, or sex.

If you're unsure what kind of support would be most helpful for you, we can talk it through together.

Psychodynamic Psychotherapy

Psychodynamic psychotherapy is based on the understanding that our present-day experiences are shaped not only by the events we consciously remember, but also by unconscious patterns, relationships, and experiences that have become part of who we are over the course of our lives.

Rather than focusing on quick fixes, it invites us to explore how we experience ourselves, other people, and the world around us. As we begin to understand these patterns more deeply, we can gradually develop greater inner freedom and a greater capacity to respond to life with awareness, rather than simply reacting from old ways of surviving. This creates more space to live in a way that is aligned with what truly matters to us.

The therapeutic relationship is also a central part of psychodynamic psychotherapy. Within a safe and trusting relationship, we can often begin to recognise the ways we have learned to be with ourselves and with others. From there, new experiences and new ways of relating can gradually begin to emerge.

FAQ

I practise psychodynamic psychotherapy and work under regular clinical supervision. I am currently completing the requirements for the European Certificate of Psychotherapy (ECP), which will be awarded upon completion of my specialist training. In my work, I adhere to the Code of Ethics of the European Association of Psychoanalytic Approaches Slovenia (EZPPS) and the Code of Ethics of the Slovenian Umbrella Association for Psychotherapy (SKZP).

The first session lasts 30 minutes and takes place online. Its main purpose is for us to get to know each other. We'll talk about what has brought you to psychotherapy and what you're hoping to gain from the process. It's also an opportunity for you to get a sense of whether you feel comfortable with me and whether my way of working feels like a good fit for you. If we decide to work together, we'll discuss the next steps and arrange future sessions together. The first session is completely obligation-free and costs €30.

At the moment, I offer psychotherapy online. If you have any reservations about online therapy, that's completely understandable. In my experience, it's absolutely possible to develop a safe, genuine, and deeply meaningful therapeutic relationship, even through a screen.

If you're unsure whether this way of working would suit you, we can meet for a few sessions and then reflect together on how it feels for you. If you're only interested in meeting in person, you're still very welcome to get in touch. Knowing there's interest helps me plan for offering in-person sessions in the future.

Psychotherapy sessions usually take place once a week, as meeting regularly supports the development of both the therapeutic relationship and the therapeutic process. However, every person is different, and in some situations we may decide together that a different frequency would be a better fit.

Each psychotherapy session lasts 50 minutes.

The initial 30-minute introductory session costs €30.

Each 50-minute psychotherapy session costs €60.

Psychotherapy and coaching can overlap in some ways, but they differ in their purpose and the way they are structured.

Psychotherapy offers a broader space for exploring yourself, your relationships, emotions, bodily experiences, and the patterns that have developed throughout your life. You don't need to be experiencing significant psychological distress to begin psychotherapy. You may also choose psychotherapy if you want to understand yourself more deeply, move through life transitions with greater ease, or develop a different relationship with yourself and others.

The coaching I offer is more focused and is usually shorter than psychotherapy. It centres on empowerment, pleasure, and sexuality. While difficult or painful experiences may also arise during coaching, it is not intended for in-depth trauma work.

If you're unsure which form of support would suit you best at this point, you're very welcome to get in touch, and we can explore together which approach might feel most supportive for you.

  • A stable internet connection.
  • The free version of Zoom installed on your desktop or laptop computer.
  • A working camera and microphone.
  • A private space where you won't be interrupted during our session.
  • If needed, a more comfortable place to sit or lie down.

You can book a psychotherapy session by filling out the contact form or by emailing me at info@evapozar.com. If you have any questions or you're unsure about anything beforehand, please feel free to get in touch. Once I receive your message, I'll get back to you as soon as I can, and we'll arrange a time for an introductory session together.
